Job Description:
Our client requires the services of a Senior Informix DBA to fill a full-time permanent position. The Informix Database Administrator role is to assist with defining the future direction, provisioning and maintenance of all the clients’ database servers and databases. This role acts as a consultative partner by providing expertise, analysis and advice to internal stakeholders as well as external to the organization ensuring the maximization of database performance in order for the client's business to provide products and services efficiently and effectively to its customers.

Responsibilities:
* Conducts diverse, complex and specialized technical and analytical services to attain broad results for the department.
* Proactively resolves complex technical issues including using advanced root cause analysis of database systems to determine the best course of action to restore business continuity.
* Provides significant input into future plans and strategies, assisting in management and execution of various vulnerability and risk assessment projects and often makes regular recommendations for new approaches to technical work and broader issues resolution.
* Creates business requirements and directs product development by monitoring and collecting feedback from users and liaising with vendors to provide detailed specifications and solutions to meet business needs.
* Conducts significant research and analysis to develop creative ideas and processes for issues resolution and innovative ways to improve the performance, functionality and integrity of the client's systems.
* Performs capacity planning to ensure sustained ability of client's products and services.
* Communicates system maintenance and upgrades to all stakeholders and executes these activities with minimal system downtime/business impact

Requirements
* Demonstrated ability and experience with Informix Dynamic Server 11, Replication and MACH 11 with a minimum of 5 years experience managing and administrating database servers and their databases
* Demonstrated ability and experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux 5, including clustering
* Familiarity with other database platforms such as , Oracle 10g, MS SQL and/or DB2
* Hands on experience with administering and monitoring high traffic, highly available, mission critical systems
* Proficient in designing and implementing backup/ recovery and DRP strategies
* Proficient in performance tuning and index optimization
* Proficient in database security best practices and integration between systems
* Excellent Informix SQL, Linux shell scripting, debugging and performance tuning skills
* Knowledge of enterprise SAN, Multipath and disk sub systems is an asset
* ITIL Foundations as well as relevant practitioner certifications is an asset.
* Informix, Linux and other professional certifications are assets.

Ideally, this position requires a University degree or two year college diploma but an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.  



Full time / Part time position commensurate with experience 27.03.2010
Our client is looking for a junior to intermediate Web Publisher who can also do some web development. This position can be part time or full time.

To start, 50% of this role is content publishing on up to 20 websites managed by the client. The client is also interested in candidates who possess the following web development skills.

* HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL & PHP

Education:

Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

In general, the focus is on systems designed for the management of critical configuration data (Electronic Data File System). The EDF/EDI systems are a custom (MS-SQL) integrated solution which receives, transforms and delivers data from/to leading world class vendors and major telecom partners.

The successful candidate will have a very strong knowledge of database methodology, business and systems analysis and documentation, combined with excellent practical experience. A solid understanding of manufacturing test systems and/or enterprise business systems would also be an asset.

Responsibilities
• Works closely with Business Analysts, Systems Analyst, Process Administrator to gather information, analyze and do a detailed documentation of the current technical configuration as well as how it relates to our business process.

• Based on the analysis, document recommendations for best practices, improvement and scalability of systems to be phased in for future development.

• Provide a framework for a new System Development and Implementation Methodology and best practices foundation that will be used by the team ongoing.

• Support the Sierra EDF/EDI integration initiative by assisting in project tasks when requested.

• When required, support may be required to write T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, tables, indexes and review others development code.

• Support the team with EDI based document mapping and process management when required.


Knowledge & Experience Required

• A minimum of five (5) years or more of hands-on, expert level experience with MS SQL Server Database Administration
• Proven excellent System Analysis ability to understand complex processes.
• Strong ability to translate and document complex technical and business processes
• A thorough understanding of Microsoft Operating System - Server 2003
• Experience with MS SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 Administration, including management tools
• Strong proficiency in understanding and writing T-SQL code and Stored Procedures
• Experience with database communication mechanisms preferred: .NET, ODBC and TCP/IP
• Experience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycle
• Knowledge of Oracle database technologies a plus
• Knowledge of Java & webservices is a definite asset
• Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) knowledge would be a strong asset. Inovis BizManager software knowledge would be a strong advantage.

Our client requires a Informix Database Administrator to be part of a team implementing software packages and resolving complex operational problems on the database. This client is using the Informix Dynamic Server version 11 on a Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 platform. It starts at the beginning of January 2010 and lasts 6 months although it may be extended. All on site work will be performed in Kamloops, BC

Responsibilities

* Work as a team member with other technical staff, to assist with support and implementation of software packages as requested as they relate to the database
* Perform administration of databases, including creation, configuration, account set-up, access and permissions, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting and performance tuning.
* Perform database security management, performance optimization and query tuning, resource monitoring and disk planning
* Perform database backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning, testing and execution
* Implement scheduled maintenance on the databases, such as archiving, indexing and error checking/repair
* Provide technical support and direction for set up and maintenance of test environments to analyze and resolve operational issues

Requirements

* 5 + years of extensive Informix experience in a Unix/Linux environment
* Good knowledge clustering technology to effectively configure database systems
* Ability to work in a 24x7x365 environment, with on-call availability.
* Thorough in-depth understanding of database design and development methodology

Our client is looking for a Network Administrator to develop, implement and support technology solutions to support all business processes.

As a key member of the Information Technology Department, this person is the onsite representative for the Vancouver office and a part of an IT team located both in the USA and Canada. This person will assist in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the desktop systems, laptop computers, communication devices, network servers, conference and telephone hardware. He/she will troubleshoot and diagnose system problems and recommend solutions; assist or coordinate repair efforts to the various systems and hardware; perform preventative maintenance functions as required; and create and adhere to corporate IS standards. This position is not supervisory in nature, except when managing the work of approved outside vendors.

Role & Responsibilities

* Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, remote server, internet access, office systems and applications support).

* Support five servers; network and desktop hardware; and software and applications for 100 – 110 employees.

* Support remote users with respect to e-mail, remote network access and communications devices e.g. Blackberries

* Coordinate the set-up, installation and management of corporate desktop computers and laptops.

* Conduct physical adds, moves, and changes to the telephone system (including spider phones and video conference equipment).

* Trouble shoot IS problems and ensure effective and efficient operation of all data communication tools such as PC’s, laptops, communications devices, telephones, printer and copiers.

* Monitor environmental conditions for optimal equipment functionality including temperature, lighting, humidity etc. and ensure proper security of equipment.

* Manage back-up tapes, including tape changes, off-site rotation and appropriate labeling.

Education:

Diploma in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or Business Administration; supplemented with one or more courses in current technology.

Experience:

Five (5+) years and current experience as an Administrator on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications device and accustomed to being the sole responsible party as opposed to a part of a larger team.

Demonstrated knowledge of:

o Windows Active Directory, Windows servers and desktop products.
o MAC desktop software and hardware.
o Setting up and administering remote access for users.
o Current communications devices and protocols, server and desktop technologies.
o An above average ability to read, write, and speak English as work often requires reading and writing in technical or complex areas.

A proven ability to:

o Administer at least a 100+ node network including firewalls.
o Support networked printers and photocopiers.
o Support networked VOIP systems.
o Work within Windows network to retrieve or analyze data.
o Mental ability to conduct technical interactions with other departments
o Organize and independently prioritize work, logically develop work plans and use discretion.
o Negotiate hardware/software service and technical support contracts with vendors.
o Manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously.
